Ivan has become one of our farm favorites because of his quiet and gentle personality, which I am sure he inherited from his sire Yogan. Ivan is a big imperial trim guy with impressive handlebar horns. Ivan has produced three very impressive batches of calves. Kipu means Happy and that what comes to mind when I see this little girl bouncing through the pasture with her big sister, Glory. Kipu is accepting scratches on her head and neck. She is very calm, but she is super curious about her world. Kipu will be available after she is weaned in January. We will start working to halter train her this fall.

Kipu is out of our white Yak hybrid, Himalaya. Kipu will be DNA tested and registered with USYAKS as a yak hybrid. Her DNA test will confirm her sire, dam and what percentage of yak genes she carries, my guess is that she is somewhere between 80-90% yak.

Why a yak hybrid? They grow faster, grow a little larger, and produce more milk than yak. We purchased her mother so that we could milk her and she is a very striking creamy white! Due to her hybrid genes she should produce faster growing calves.
